Education Programs for School and Groups PDF Brouchure (2MB) The Tom Thomson Tour is an interactive discussion about Tom Thomson, the pioneering Canadian artist for whom our Gallery is named. Students will explore his life story and his importance to Canadian Art. A Gallery Guide will assist students in their exploration of the original paintings on display, and discuss the materials and techniques used to create these artworks. The Current Exhibitions Tour explores What’s On Now. There is always something new to explore as our exhibitions change every 8 to10 weeks. Following independent exploration of the current exhibition, a trained Art Educator will lead a guided group discussion of significant works on view, investigating the artists’ ideas, techniques and social context. The Tour explores issues related to the basic elements of design, the process of seeing and critical thinking as defined by the Ontario Curriculum for the Visual Arts. The Importance of Art Tour is a general introduction to the Gallery, its Programs, and its role in the community. Students will have a chance to explore the main galleries and exhibitions as well as some areas not open to the general public. This tour can be booked any time during the year and takes approximately one hour. Tour and Studio Program is a day-long program, during which students will tour the current exhibitions and then take part in a hands-on studio activity, taught by a professional artist.
